Police acted swiftly during the Durga Puja festivities, addressing multiple complaints of assault and teasing. Authorities moved quickly to arrest all accused individuals, presenting them in court on Sunday. Some of the offenders were placed under police remand, while others were handed over to judicial custody, confirmed Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee.
The significant development coincided with Agartala's first-ever Ravana Dahan ceremony to mark Vijaya Dashami, drawing a massive crowd at BT College ground. The ceremony, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, was inaugurated and led by Chief Minister Manik Saha, celebrating Lord Rama's victory over Ravana.
Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with BJP leader Papia Datta, expressed satisfaction with the event's success. Datta noted the ceremony's previous observance in Belonia and Shantir Bazar, marking its debut in Agartala. The Mayor and other dignitaries were present, as Datta extended her greetings, highlighting the nationwide celebration of this symbolic victory from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
