An arrest in the Zubeen Garg death investigation has taken a dramatic turn as a local court in Guwahati, Assam, ordered APS officer Sandipan Garg into seven days' police custody. The arrest came after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Assam Police apprehended him in connection with the case. According to Prasad Gupta, Chief of SIT and Special DGP of the Crime Investigation Department, the court's decision underscores the case's gravity.
In addition to Sandipan Garg, the SIT has detained five others linked to the incident, including the main event organizer Shyamku Mahanta, Zubeen Garg's Manager Siddhant Sharma, bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, and co-singer Amritprava Mahanta. This development follows the appearance of Rupkamal Kalita, an Assamese resident from Singapore and a key witness from the yacht party on the day of Zubeen Garg's passing.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma assured the public of a thorough probe, with key witness statements being meticulously recorded. He noted that recent poisoning claims originated from an accused rather than police findings, with the crucial viscera examination report expected shortly. Sarma urged the Assamese community in Singapore to ensure timely cooperation of key suspects, stressing that their return is vital for uncovering the truth in this mysterious case.
