The AAP government has introduced an interest-free wheat loan for Class-IV employees, aiming to provide financial support for essential household needs. Announcing the scheme, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema highlighted the government's commitment to employee welfare and financial well-being.
The plan ensures eligible Group-D employees can access a minimum loan of Rs 10,340 for purchasing wheat, calculated based on a standard family consumption average. Implementation is supported by a Rs 15 crore budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, allowing for loan access until May 2026.
To alleviate financial stress, the loan repayment is structured over eight monthly instalments, with deductions starting from June salaries. This initiative exemplifies the government's efforts to protect employee welfare as their primary concern.
