Tamil Nadu's newly appointed Chief Minister, Vijay, marked a historic political interaction by meeting former Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M K Stalin at his Chennai residence on Monday. This meeting, which also included ex-Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, was Vijay's first visit to senior DMK leaders since assuming office.
The interaction followed Sunday's swearing-in of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government. During this ceremony, all MLAs of the Tamil Nadu State Legislative Assembly were sworn in. Noteworthy political figures such as Edappadi K Palaniswami, O Panneerselvam, and Udhayanidhi Stalin, along with prominent ministers, pledged their allegiance to the House.
Emphasizing transparency, CM Vijay, shortly after taking the oath, accused the past DMK government of fiscal mismanagement. He assured transparency by vowing to release a white paper, declaring all actions will be public and transparent. Vijay promptly signed documents enacting key policies, including measures for free electricity, anti-drug initiatives, and enhanced women's safety. The TVK, while achieving a significant assembly victory, had to ally with various parties, including Congress, to form the government.
