The decomposed body of a 17-year-old boy, Prateshmesh Baswakar from Maharashtra, was discovered on the banks of Arunachal Pradesh's Yomgo river, authorities confirmed on Monday. Prateshmesh, son of ITBP officer Rahul Baswakar, disappeared on May 3 during a picnic in Bene village, feared drowned after being swept away by strong currents.

The body, identified by residents of Dama village, led to a collaborative retrieval effort by the Army and ITBP's 20th Battalion. Following the sighting, police registered an unnatural death case at Aalo Police Station and stated that investigations are set to continue into the circumstances of Prateshmesh's tragic disappearance.

The incident unfolded when the teen, part of a group of 10 minors, ventured to the riverbank to capture a video. A sudden jump into the river led to him being swept away. The search was intensified but affected by continuous rains swelling the Yomgo and nearby rivers.
