Uttarakhand's Green Push: Work from Home and No Vehicle Day Initiatives

In a bid to conserve energy and promote sustainable practices, the Uttarakhand cabinet sanctioned a 'work from home' initiative and a weekly 'no vehicle day' on Wednesday. These decisions come amid global energy uncertainties, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for responsible energy usage.

Chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the cabinet meeting outlined comprehensive strategies to reduce official vehicle fleets and encourage video conferencing for meetings. This is part of an overarching policy that also suggests public transport utilization and the adoption of electric vehicles.

Further directives include reduced air-conditioning in buildings and restricted foreign trips to nurture domestic tourism. Under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, the expansion of solar energy and bio-gas production was emphasized, along with training programs in natural farming to enhance agricultural efficiency.
