Relief for Alamgir Alam: Bail Granted Amid Tender Scam Investigation

Former Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam was released from Birsa Munda Central Jail on Thursday, following a Supreme Court bail approval in a money laundering case linked to an alleged tender scam. The Enforcement Directorate had previously arrested the Congress leader on May 15, 2024, after a significant cash seizure near his aide's property.

Alam's earlier attempts to secure bail from the Jharkhand High Court had been unsuccessful due to the case's gravity, prompting him to approach the Supreme Court. Upon release, Alam expressed gratitude to his supporters and maintained his innocence, claiming he had been a law-abiding citizen throughout the investigation process.

Jharkhand Congress president Keshav Mahato Kamlesh and other party members celebrated Alam's return, although Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi cautioned that the bail was interim, emphasizing that it was not an acquittal. The legal proceedings concerning Alam's case remain ongoing.
