Swift Operations: Gulmarg Gondola Rescue Shines as Tourist Triumph

The operation, involving the Indian Army, J&K Police, NDRF, SDRF, and civil administration, showcased exceptional professionalism and courage, ensuring all tourists were safely evacuated after a technical glitch trapped them mid-air.

On Tuesday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended the coordinated efforts of security and rescue teams for the successful operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Gulmarg, where tourists were left stranded in mid-air due to a Gondola malfunction.
Singh highlighted the efficient collaboration of the Indian Army, J&K Police, NDRF, SDRF, and civil administration, which played a pivotal role in swiftly evacuating nearly 300 tourists who were trapped in cable cars for almost seven hours.
The large-scale rescue, which began after a technical issue halted the Gondola cabins, involved a meticulous operation phased into the rescue of 286 individuals in total from opposite sides of the system, ensuring all were safely returned to ground.
