Rural Development Minister Releases First Instalment of PMAY-G Funds

Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday announced the release of the first instalment of funds under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) for 12 states for the financial year 2026-27. The funds, amounting to ₹10,021.42 crore, were sanctioned during a video conference attended by Minister Chandra Shekhar Pemmasani.

A Mother Sanction is a broad financial approval issued by central government ministries to set the maximum state-wise drawing limits for schemes like PMAY-G. This initiative helps ensure funds are released timely, supporting the government's mission to provide 'pucca' houses to homeless rural populations.

Minister Chouhan highlighted the program's achievements since 2016, with the approval of 3.91 crore houses, more than 3.5 crore of which have already been constructed. The event, held via video conference, saw participation from other ministers and officials, including Keshav Prasad Maurya and Deepika Pandey.

States have been praised for their innovations, including helplines and grievance redressal systems, which have bolstered the scheme's efficacy. Notably, 75% of homes have been sanctioned in women's names, promoting empowerment. However, Chouhan urged states to address land shortages and complete pending approvals by June 2026.

Chouhan reaffirmed the government's dedication to ensuring no rural family lacks a permanent home, maintaining PMAY-G's transformative impact across India's rural landscape.
