In an unusual protest, Nationalist Congress Party MLA Rohit Pawar arrived at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) headquarters in Pune on Friday with a lock and chain. His act was a call for action on the death of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who perished in a plane crash, an incident that remains unexplored by investigative agencies four months after its occurrence.
Rohit Pawar criticized the inaction, highlighting what he perceived as wastage of public resources. "If the officers are not probing the case, then what are they doing in air-conditioned offices? It would be more meaningful to halt such spending completely," he remarked, pushing for a CBI inquiry which, he claims, has been dismissed.
Calling attention to possible conspiracy, Pawar condemned the lack of concrete progress in the inquiry. He accused 'big powers' of protecting VSR Ventures Pvt Ltd, the aircraft's operator. With past appeals for an urgent investigation falling on deaf ears, Rohit Pawar reiterated the call for transparency in this politically sensitive case.
