The healthcare industry, represented by NATHEALTH, is calling for regulatory reforms, pointing to a cumbersome regulatory environment spanning 10-12 ministries and three governance tiers. On Monday, the organization underscored the urgent need for streamlined regulations to address inefficiencies that hinder patient care and innovation.

In collaboration with EY India, NATHEALTH has crafted a whitepaper submitted to the NITI Aayog, highlighting significant compliance burdens. The paper benchmarks the healthcare sector against others like BFSI, mining, and IT, where healthcare emerges as burdened by high compliance demands.

The whitepaper outlines 85 compliance challenges across the sector. With 44 identified as particularly arduous, NATHEALTH suggests a digital single-window compliance platform, harmonization of state and departmental regulations, and clearer governance roles to ensure the sector's agility and patient-centric alignment.
