The Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, inaugurated its 30th National Seminar on the theme “Management of Illness & Wellness in Paediatrics through Ayurveda” at the Scope Complex Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The two-day event, attended by eminent scholars, practitioners, and students, is dedicated to advancing holistic paediatric healthcare by integrating traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern scientific validation.

Distinguished Inaugural Session

The opening ceremony was graced by several prominent figures, including:

  • Vaidya Devendra Triguna, Padma Shri & Padma Bhushan awardee, President, Governing Body, RAV.

  • Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala, Director, All India Institute of Ayurveda.

  • Vaidya Mukul Patel, Guru, CRAV, Governing Body Member, RAV.

  • Vaidya Rakesh Sharma, Governing Body Member, RAV.

In their addresses, dignitaries praised the Government of India’s commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and with the guidance of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, to positioning Ayurveda and Yoga as globally recognized systems of holistic wellness.

Ayurveda’s Paediatric Branch – Kaumarbhritya

Central to the discussions was Kaumarbhritya, Ayurveda’s specialized branch dedicated to paediatrics. Experts highlighted its preventive, promotive, and curative approaches, which encompass neonatal care, childhood nutrition, immunity building, management of common ailments, and long-term wellness strategies.

This traditional system, when validated through scientific research and integrated with modern medical practices, has the potential to transform child healthcare in India, especially in preventive care and holistic wellness.

Minister’s Message

In a written message, Shri Prataprao Jadhav emphasized that:

“Ayurveda has always placed child health as the cornerstone of a flourishing society. This National Seminar is a timely initiative to highlight Ayurveda’s comprehensive approach to both illness management and wellness promotion in paediatric care. The deliberations here will enrich practitioners, researchers, and students, advancing paediatric healthcare through Ayurveda.”

Key Contributions by Leaders

  • Vaidya Devendra Triguna commended the Government’s efforts in mainstreaming Yoga and Ayurveda on the global stage. He appreciated RAV’s consistent focus on child wellness and lauded the All India Institute of Ayurveda for its contribution to advancing the Ayush ecosystem.

  • Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala pointed out that public trust in Ayurveda has grown tremendously, thanks to sustained government support and the tireless dedication of Ayush professionals.

  • Dr. Vandana Siroha, Director of RAV, reaffirmed the vision of “Swasth Balak, Swasth Bharat” (Healthy Child, Healthy India). She underscored that the seminar provides a platform for thought leadership in paediatric Ayurveda, paving the way for research-driven, evidence-based integration of Ayurveda into mainstream child healthcare.

  • Poster Sessions: Young scholars and practitioners showcased innovative research, symbolizing the dynamism of the next generation of Ayurveda professionals.

  • Interactive Dialogues: Engaging discussions were held on preventive and promotive child healthcare, emphasizing nutrition, immunity enhancement, and early intervention for long-term wellness.

The event also saw the release of a Souvenir and research posters, symbolizing the progress of paediatric Ayurveda as both an academic and clinical discipline.

With active participation from academicians, researchers, practitioners, and students, the National Seminar reinforces Ayurveda’s role in creating a sustainable, holistic, and child-friendly healthcare ecosystem.
