In an effort to curb rising tensions between India and Pakistan, around a dozen Nepali human rights and peace activists staged a protest outside the Pakistani Embassy in Kathmandu. The demonstrators urged both sides to de-escalate tensions and demanded that Pakistan take action to stop harboring terrorism.
Krishna Pahadi, the founder of the Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES), highlighted the terror attack in Pahalgam, India, which claimed the lives of 26 people, including a Nepali citizen. He condemned Pakistan for allegedly protecting terrorists and called for immediate steps to address the issue.
The protestors intended to submit a memorandum to the Pakistani Embassy, which was refused in person but suggested to be sent via email. Meanwhile, India accused Pakistan of targeting civilian sites across the Line of Control, prompting further calls for action and international attention.
