In a significant diplomatic meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and Andrej Plenkovic, the Croatian Prime Minister, highlighted the critical need to conclude a mutually advantageous India-EU Free Trade Agreement at the earliest.

The leaders praised the growing alliance between two major democracies and expressed hope for concluding the trade deal within the year, in tandem with the historic visit by the EU College of Commissioners to India scheduled for February 2025. Additionally, they advocated for peace in global conflict zones, including Ukraine and the Middle East.

The discussions also centered around the promotion of a peaceful, rules-based Indo-Pacific region. Stressed was the need for urgent UN system reforms, particularly in the Security Council's structure, to enhance inclusivity, transparency, and efficacy. Modi's visit marked the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations.
