Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for tougher sanctions against Russia if a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin fails to materialize. His statement, shared after a call with Trump, comes a day after Trump and Putin met in Alaska without Ukrainian involvement.
In a social media post, Zelensky described sanctions as a potent tool that should be bolstered should Russia avoid resolving the conflict fairly. Trump depicted his discussions with Putin as amicable and noting considerable agreement. However, he stressed Ukraine's necessity in achieving peace.
Trump expressed eagerness to join a potential three-way summit, stating mutual interest from counterparts. The Kremlin has not confirmed this setup, though Putin deemed it feasible pending appropriate arrangements. Zelensky, now in the US, continues to advocate for lasting peace.
