India and Myanmar Leaders Strengthen Ties: Modi Meets Min Aung Hlaing

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Myanmar's President U Min Aung Hlaing on Monday at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The visit, spanning from May 30 to June 2, marks Hlaing's inaugural trip to India in his current capacity and includes a high-level delegation of ministers, officials, and business leaders.
Before this meeting, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval engaged with President Min Aung Hlaing on Sunday, conveying India's commitment to strengthening ties. Furthermore, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized the significance of this diplomatic engagement, highlighting the appreciation of Hlaing's positive stance on bolstering bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
President Min Aung Hlaing's visit also included a stop in Bodh Gaya, where he visited the Mahabodhi Temple, underscoring the historical and spiritual connections between India and Myanmar. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal outlined the objectives of these discussions during a recent press briefing, emphasizing their broad scope and potential for fostering mutual prosperity.
