The first-ever high-altitude Ultra Marathon in Jammu's Patnitop showcased both youthful grit and the unmatched discipline of seasoned runners, held on Sunday. Akshay Sharma excelled in the 50 km, 18-35 age category, completing the race in 3:57:32 hours. Among women, Sqn Leader Neha Devi led the pack with a time of 4:23:58 hours. Sonaram Hasse and Pragati Garg emerged victorious in the 35-45 category, covering 50 km in 3:57:28 and 5:16:33 hours, respectively.

Veterans Balraj Kaushik and Anuradha completed the 45-55 age group race in 5:16:33 and 7:02:21 hours. Ajay Gandotra achieved a time of 5:54:49 hours in the 55-65 category. Notably, OP Sharma and 69-year-old Manmohan finished the 65-plus category in 6:15:51 and 6:41:30 hours, with Shamala, 65, as the sole female runner. Kulwant Singh Bajwa, a 75-year-old runner from Pathankot, celebrated his finish in the 5 km run, contributing to the spirit of endurance.

Hosted by IKA Sports & Events, in collaboration with local authorities, the marathon drew participation of over 750 runners from within India and abroad. CEO Virender Manyal emphasized the event's goal of promoting physical fitness and reducing addiction. The scenic route, coupled with meticulous organization, earned praise from participants, culminating with Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, Mohammed Alyas Khan, distributing awards to the winners. The marathon also serves as an economic booster for Patnitop's tourism sector, reinforcing the commitment to healthy lifestyles.
