Mithi River Desilting Scam: Middlemen in Rs 65 Crore Controversy Arrested

In a dramatic development, two alleged middlemen have been arrested in a massive Rs 65 crore scam associated with the desilting of the Mithi River in Mumbai. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police identified the individuals as Ketan Kadam and Jai Joshi.
The arrests follow an extensive investigation and raids conducted at the homes and offices of the accused, including collaborating contractors and officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Reports indicate that BMC officials crafted tenders to favor Matprop's expensive machinery, significantly hiking project costs.
Kadam and Joshi have been remanded to police custody for seven days. Allegations reveal they leased machinery to inflate costs and generated fraudulent bills. The case, involving multiple suspects, highlights the deep-rooted corruption impacting municipal operations.
