In a bid to enhance emergency preparedness, Tripura conducted a widespread civil defence mock drill, 'Operation Abhyaas', at several key locations on Wednesday. The exercise aimed to evaluate the readiness of various forces and departments to tackle unforeseen disasters.

The drill witnessed participation from Assam Rifles, BSF, NDRF, SDRF, Tripura State Rifles, and NCC cadets, with notable contributions from the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd, Agartala Municipal Corporation, and PWD. Officials simulated catastrophic scenarios, including air raids, fire incidents, and rescue operations.

During the event, sirens blared at critical junctures, and a strategic power blackout was enacted to test response efficiency. While the drill showcased strengths in collaboration among agencies, West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar acknowledged areas needing better general awareness training.
