Border Tensions Escalate with Intense Artillery Shelling in Jammu and Kashmir

The Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed severe hostilities as the Pakistan army launched artillery and mortar shelling on forward villages. The aftermath claimed the lives of 13 individuals, including children, and left 57 others injured, as stated by officials on Wednesday.

The shelling forced countless residents to take shelter in underground bunkers or relocate to safer areas as their homes, vehicles, and infrastructure like the Gurdwara were damaged, causing widespread panic in districts such as Poonch, Rajouri, Baramulla, and Kupwara.

The Indian army responded decisively, targeting enemy posts that engaged in the aggression. These attacks marked the first significant breach of the ceasefire agreement, renewed on February 25, 2021. In the wake of destruction, the administration established shelter camps and closed educational institutions in affected areas.
