Russian defense forces successfully intercepted 12 Ukrainian drones targeting Moscow, confirmed Mayor Sergei Sobyanin via Telegram posts. The city's vigilance remains high as it prepares for the Red Square military parade.
The drone threat led to temporary closures of Zhukovsky and Kaluga airports, although Moscow's Domodedovo airport returned to operation by evening, despite occasional interruptions throughout the day. The Russian Defence Ministry remains focused, reporting the downing of 524 drones countrywide in just 24 hours.
Amidst these tensions, Moscow is set to host over 20 world leaders for the Red Square celebration of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany. Prominent figures like China's President Xi Jinping are among the first to arrive, underscoring the event's significance.
