CJI Engages President and PM in High Court Justice Inquiry

Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna has communicated with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, conveying the findings of a Supreme Court-appointed committee investigating cash discovery claims against Allahabad High Court's Justice Yashwant Varma.

The CJI forwarded the panel's findings along with Justice Varma's response, adhering to the principle of natural justice. The three-member committee, comprising Chief Justices Sheel Nagu and G.S. Sandhawalia, and Justice Anu Sivaraman, performed a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.

The inquiry process involved reviewing evidence and gathering statements from over 50 people, including significant testimonies from Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and the Delhi Fire Service chief. These testimonies were particularly crucial as they were from first responders to an accidental fire at Justice Varma's residence in March.
