A 28-year-old woman who was on the run for nearly eight years has been arrested for her involvement in the abduction, rape, and forced marriage of a minor girl in Delhi, officials said on Thursday.
The suspect, part of a group including her husband Kishan Pal and an accomplice named Dinesh, allegedly kidnapped the 15-year-old from Bharatlal, Delhi, on November 1, 2017, and held her in a remote village in Uttar Pradesh where she was sexually assaulted and married off against her will.
Initial investigations led to the arrest of Kishan and Dinesh, but the woman managed to evade capture until a recent tip-off directed the Crime Branch to her village in Uttar Pradesh. She attempted to escape but was caught, confessed to her crimes, and was sent to judicial custody after being presented in court.
