Chandigarh, in response to escalating India-Pakistan tensions, has issued public safety guidelines, including familiarization with emergency sirens. The city is on high alert following recent hostilities and is implementing strict measures for public safety.
Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav announced the closure of malls, cinemas, restaurants, and non-essential shops from May 9 evening to May 10 morning. Fireworks will be banned until July 7 to prevent public panic and maintain order.
Preventative steps include emergency siren drills, blackout exercises, strengthened security at key sites, and directives against hoarding essentials. Health services are on standby, with enhanced ambulance fleets and stocked medical supplies.
