In light of the escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have announced a suspension of leave for their officials. This decision reflects a larger strategy to enhance administrative readiness in the face of potential emergencies.
The directive from the MCD, backed by the Delhi government's Services Department, mandates that all department heads ensure no officer or official is granted leave until further notice. The NDMC has issued a similar order, emphasizing the need for maximum staff availability to bolster emergency response capabilities.
These measures are part of a broader response following the Indian military's Operation Sindoor, a strike against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. As a proactive step, civil defense drills and blackouts were organized across Delhi, preparing the public for hostile situations. Parallel directives have been issued in states bordering Pakistan to maintain full operational capacity.
