An unidentified caller has reportedly been threatening Vinod Kumar, a petrol pump owner in Una district, over the past four weeks, demanding a sum of Rs 50 lakhs, according to local police sources on Thursday.

Kumar, hailing from Bangana village, filed a complaint stating that the unknown individual contacted him three times through WhatsApp, making severe threats if his demands were not met. The first calls were received on May 24 and 25, followed by another on June 15, which Kumar initially missed. When he returned the call the following day, the caller allegedly intimated knowledge of Kumar's whereabouts and occupation.

The caller insisted on the payment and issued threats of grave consequences should Kumar fail to comply. Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to identify and apprehend the suspect.
