The upcoming Karnataka cabinet meeting will focus on pivotal bills concerning crowd control, with penalties extending to three years' imprisonment. This legislative move follows the June 4 Bengaluru stampede that claimed 11 lives.
Equally crucial are planned discussions on bills targeting misinformation, fake news, and hate speech crimes. State Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil confirmed these legislative proposals after a recent cabinet session.
The draft crowd control bill enforces strict penalties for noncompliance, while the Rohith Vemula Bill seeks to address caste-based discrimination in education, advocating for compensation for victims and penalties for offenders.
