In a landmark event that underscores the central government’s commitment to accelerated development and inclusive growth, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects valued at over ₹5,200 crore in Siwan, Bihar. The Prime Minister was joined by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and a host of Union Ministers and dignitaries from Bihar.
Paying homage to local spiritual icons such as Baba Mahendra Nath, Baba Hans Nath, and invoking the sacred sites of Sohgara Dham, Maa Thawe Bhawani, and Maa Ambika Bhawani, the Prime Minister rooted the occasion in Bihar’s deep spiritual and cultural legacy. He also honored the memory of India’s first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad and freedom icon Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan.
Celebrating Bihar’s Legacy of Democracy and Reform
Shri Modi hailed Siwan as a region steeped in India’s freedom struggle and democratic foundation, noting the contributions of leaders like Dr. Rajendra Prasad in shaping the Constitution. He also recognized Braj Kishore Prasad, a reformer dedicated to women’s empowerment, affirming that the vision of such leaders continues through the Union and State governments’ initiatives.
“Today’s projects mark another step in fulfilling the mission of these great souls,” said the Prime Minister, noting the far-reaching impact of these initiatives on districts such as Sasaram, Buxar, Motihari, Bettiah, and Arrah.
Empowering the Marginalized and Rebuilding Bihar
Shri Modi emphasized the transformational work done under the NDA government, particularly in uplifting Dalits, Mahadalits, backward, and extremely backward communities. He praised the resilience of Biharis, stressing their refusal to compromise on dignity even in the face of past neglect.
Recalling the two-decade-old era of lawlessness, forced migration, and corruption in Bihar, Shri Modi asserted that the state, under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership, has been reclaimed and rebuilt. He listed significant achievements:
-
55,000 km of rural roads
-
1.5 crore homes with electricity
-
1.5 crore households with water supply
-
Over 45,000 Common Service Centres
-
A surge in start-ups in small towns
“A prosperous Bihar is essential for a prosperous India,” Modi stated, while cautioning against attempts by previous regimes to regain control and derail progress.
From License Raj to Digital Empowerment
The Prime Minister sharply criticized the previous regimes for fostering a quota-permit system, corruption, and exclusionary policies that denied basic services to the poor. He accused them of enriching a few while millions remained impoverished.
By contrast, Modi outlined his government’s achievements:
-
Over 4 crore pucca houses built nationwide
-
3 crore more to be constructed
-
57 lakh houses built in Bihar under PMAY
-
Over 1.10 lakh in Siwan alone
-
12 crore households now connected with tap water
-
4.5 lakh Siwan families newly connected
He highlighted that most new houses are registered in the names of women, transforming their roles into empowered property owners.
New Infrastructure to Propel Industry and Tourism
Emphasizing Bihar’s transformation into a manufacturing and export hub, PM Modi spotlighted the Marhowra Locomotive Factory. The factory recently exported its first engine to Africa, a move he called “historic,” and a testament to Bihar’s evolving industrial stature.
“An engine made in Bihar will power African trains. This is not just progress, it’s pride,” he declared.
He further revealed that Bihar’s makhana, fruits, vegetables, and manufactured goods will now find demand globally, tying into the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.
The Prime Minister noted major improvements in:
-
Railway networks
-
Road and waterway development
-
Air travel infrastructure
-
Modern sewage and pipeline systems in cities
He inaugurated the new Patna–Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express, linking the sacred sites of Baba Hariharnath and Baba Gorakhnath, and connecting Lord Buddha’s penance sites to Kushinagar—a move expected to significantly boost tourism and commerce.
Combating Dynastic Politics and Defending Ambedkar’s Legacy
In a scathing critique of opposition parties, Shri Modi accused them of family-first politics, alleging they neglected Dalits and Mahadalits, and have repeatedly insulted Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s legacy.
“They place Dr. Ambedkar’s image at their feet, while we carry him in our hearts,” Modi said. He referenced a recent incident involving alleged disrespect of Dr. Ambedkar’s photo, which sparked protest posters across Bihar.
Charting the Future: A Bihar Reclaimed
Concluding his speech, the Prime Minister underscored that the foundation for Bihar’s rise has been firmly laid. With the vision of Nitish Kumar and backing of the NDA alliance, he affirmed Bihar is ready to reclaim its historic place as a leader in India’s development.
“I am confident that the youth of Bihar will lead this transformation,” Modi declared, expressing optimism that Bihar will emerge as a powerful engine of Viksit Bharat.
