The Delhi High Court has demanded a response from Delhi Police regarding allegations of mishandling the custody transfer of girls rescued from a sexual exploitation ring in the city.
Justice Ravinder Dudeja directed notices to both the police and relevant agencies based on complaints from NGOs that asserted the absence of adherence to the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. The NGOs claimed this failure potentially returned the girls to dangerous environments.
The court mandated the submission of status reports by all involved authorities within four weeks, scheduling the next hearing for July 17. The petition is led by advocate Prabhasahay Kaur, highlighting severe breach in protecting the rescued girls under law.
