Maharashtra's Language Policy U-Turn as Marathi Unity Triumphs

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray announced on Monday that the Maharashtra government rescinded its decision on the controversial three-language policy, effectively averting protests against the 'imposition of Hindi.'

Thackeray addressed reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan, emphasizing the significance of Marathi unity, which he claimed thwarted opponents and should be sustained in anticipation of future challenges.

Victory celebrations are scheduled for July 5, as the government forms a committee under educationist Narendra Jadhav to assess the language policy's direction. Thackeray warned the government against underestimating the issue, highlighting its educational implications and regretting the appointment of an economist.
