On Monday, the Sikkim Legislative Assembly passed the Lokayukta Amendment Bill, 2025, allowing for an extension of the chairperson and members' tenure. Proposed by Law Minister Raju Basnet, the amendment aims to ensure continuity in addressing pending matters by reinstating extensions omitted in the 2019 amendment.

In addition to the Lokayukta Bill, Basnet, also the education minister, introduced the Scholars University of Skills and Innovation, Sikkim Bill, 2025. This bill seeks to boost skilled and entrepreneurial higher education in Sikkim with world-class infrastructure. The proposed university is to be located in Melli, Namchi district, with further discussions anticipated in the next session.

The day's assembly proceedings also included the presentation of the Annual Consolidated Audit Report by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang along with the annual reports of key departments. With legislative and financial activities concluded, the session adjourned sine die by Speaker M N Sherpa.
