The Patna High Court has issued a stern directive to the Bihar government, seeking its response to serious allegations concerning the trafficking and exploitation of minor girls by dance and orchestra groups across the state.
A division bench, including Acting Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar, responded to a writ petition from 'Just Rights for Children', a coalition of over 250 NGOs dedicated to child rights. The petition shed light on disturbing findings from recent raids in districts such as Rohtas and Gopalganj, revealing the rescue of numerous minors from such groups.
The court has urged the state to devise a comprehensive strategy, involving multiple stakeholders, to ensure the regulation and monitoring of these entertainment groups. Immediate action was instructed for any reported instances of trafficking before the upcoming court session on July 25.
