In a turbulent turn of events, eleven workers from the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) have been booked in Latur following an assault on Chhava Sanghatna activists. The altercation emerged after a confrontation between the activists and Lok Sabha MP Sunil Tatkare over a video allegedly showing the state agriculture minister playing games during an official session.
The confrontation escalated when the activists disrupted a press conference and threw cards at Tatkare. Violent clashes ensued, with videos capturing NCP workers assaulting the activists. Following a complaint by activist Vijay Ghadge, who suffered severe injuries, the police registered a case under various legal sections.
In response, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar demanded the resignation of NCP youth wing chief Suraj Chavan, condemning such behavior as contrary to the party's principles. Subsequently, multiple political party workers organized a 'bandh' in Latur to protest the incident, demanding accountability and peace.
