An 18-year-old woman in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district was allegedly kidnapped and raped by two men on a Monday evening. The assault took place as the woman was returning from a birthday party, alongside a friend, authorities revealed on Tuesday.
The survivor, critically injured and bleeding, was subsequently admitted to the district hospital. Police are now actively pursuing the accused, amid mounting pressure from opposition parties highlighting the increasing crimes against women across the state.
BJP legislator Amarendra Das announced a rigorous police investigation is underway, assuring stringent action against the criminals. Meanwhile, political parties and local activists are organizing protests, criticizing the one-year-old state government's inability to ensure women's safety.
