Central Armed Police Forces Tackle Vacancy Surge with Hiring Initiatives
The Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles face a significant number of vacancies. As of January 1, there are 1.09 lakh vacancies with 72,689 posts currently undergoing recruitment. The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles are currently grappling with a significant number of vacancies, with numbers reaching 1.09 lakh as of January 1. Recruitment for 72,689 of these posts is actively underway, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, outlined the planned expansion of the forces, mentioning that their sanctioned strength is set to increase from 10,04,980 in 2021 to 10,67,110 by 2025. He asserted that rising vacancies are a direct result of retirements, resignations, promotions, deaths, and the creation of new battalions and posts.
Rai emphasized the ministry's commitment to addressing these gaps, revealing ongoing collaborations with recruitment bodies such as the Staff Selection Commission. Further, strategic measures including timely Departmental Promotion Committee meetings and streamlining the recruitment process were cited as key efforts to attract and induct new personnel efficiently.
