Supreme Court to Review BS VI Vehicle Lifespan Limits
The Supreme Court of India will hear a plea on July 28 addressing the lifespan limits for BS VI-compliant vehicles in the National Capital Region. The plea challenges the government's decision to set vehicle lifespans to 15 years for petrol and 10 years for diesel, potentially conflicting with previous court rulings.

The Supreme Court of India has agreed to hear a significant plea on July 28. The plea seeks to question the government's authority in setting end-of-life periods for BS VI-compliant vehicles in the National Capital Region.
A bench led by Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justice K Vinod Chandran has prioritized the hearing after a counsel mentioned it for urgent listing, highlighting potential contradictions with previous court directives aimed at reducing pollution levels.
The plea argues that the government cannot unilaterally change the existing emission control limits established by the Supreme Court, particularly as they relate to the lifespan of petrol vehicles set at 15 years and diesel vehicles at 10 years.
