The safety of women has become a political battleground following the arrest of two nuns and another individual in Chhattisgarh, accused of human trafficking and forced conversions. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has criticized the politicization of this grave issue.
Arrested at Durg railway station, Nuns Preethi Merry and Vandana Francis, alongside Sukaman Mandavi, face charges after allegations were made by a local Bajrang Dal functionary. They purportedly attempted to convert and traffic three girls from Narayanpur.
The arrests sparked significant backlash, particularly in Kerala, with political figures across parties expressing disapproval and calling into question the safety of minorities in states governed by the BJP.
