A Delhi court has taken significant legal action, framing charges against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan and 10 others in connection with alleged recruitment irregularities within the Delhi Waqf Board. These developments come after the court found 'strong suspicion' and 'prima facie evidence' of criminal conspiracy and misconduct.
Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh has charged Amanatullah Khan and the former CEO of the Delhi Waqf Board, Mahboob Alam, with criminal misconduct by a public servant. This case, initiated by the CBI in 2016, alleges that Khan abused his chairmanship of the board to appoint Alam as CEO in a corrupt manner.
Further accusations claim Khan orchestrated the hiring of relatives and others on temporary contracts. Citing breaches of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the court has laid charges under Sections 13(1)(d), 13(2), and 120B of the IPC. The accused, who have pleaded not guilty, face continued legal proceedings.
