In a shocking incident, a 27-year-old IT engineer from Chennai was brutally murdered over an inter-caste relationship, police reported on Monday. The young man, belonging to the Scheduled Caste, was attacked near a Siddha facility by an armed group.
Police arrested the primary suspect, S Surjith, on Monday following the fatal incident. The murder highlights the rampant caste-based violence that continues to plague the region.
The suspect's parents, both serving as sub-inspectors, are also under scrutiny. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the family under several charges, including the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
