The Supreme Court has granted an additional four weeks of interim bail to Vikas Yadav, currently serving a 25-year prison sentence in connection with the 2002 Nitish Katara murder case. This extension allows Yadav to attend to his ailing mother.
A bench comprising Justices M M Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh has instructed Yadav to seek remission from the Delhi High Court. Previous decisions by the top court also granted Yadav temporary release on medical grounds.
The court, referencing a report from AIIMS regarding Yadav's mother's health, articulated the conditions of the bail: Vikas Yadav must stay confined to his residence in Ghaziabad and refrain from contacting witnesses related to the case, including Neelam Katara, to ensure adherence to justice proceedings.
