Kerala Couple Arrested in Rs 30 Crore Extortion Scam

A couple in Kerala has been apprehended for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 30 crore from the owner of an IT company in Kochi's Infopark. The police claim that the couple, accused of damaging the owner's reputation through false rape allegations, was part of a calculated scheme.

The primary suspect, Swetha Babu, formerly employed at the company, along with her husband, Krishna Raj, reportedly spread false rumors about an illicit affair with the owner. Tensions escalated when the couple allegedly insisted on Rs 30 crore to avoid filing a complaint against the owner.

An investigation, overseen by Deputy Commissioner of Police Juwanapadi Mahesh and Central ACP Siby Tom, led to their arrest. Authorities recovered a Rs 20 crore cheque and pertinent documents, shedding light on the nefarious plot.
