A local court has handed down convictions to 38 people involved in the 2018 Syana violence case, with five individuals found guilty of murder. The violent incident, which occurred on December 3, 2018, in Bulandshahr district, was triggered by allegations of cow slaughter.
During the chaos, both SHO Subodh Kumar Singh and 20-year-old Sumit suffered fatal gunshot injuries. Additional District and Sessions Judge Gopal Ji convicted five of the accused under IPC section 302 for murder, while 33 others faced different charges.
The sentencing is scheduled for August 1, according to legal representatives. Special Public Prosecutor Yashpal Singh Raghav confirmed that charges against 38 of the 44 named in the charge sheet were upheld. A juvenile court is handling the case of one minor involved, while five accused have died during the trial.
