In a significant drug bust, Mumbai police apprehended a 24-year-old man named Sahil Junaid Ansari in the early hours of Wednesday. Ansari was found with a large stash of mephedrone (MD) and charas, with a combined street value exceeding Rs 3.46 crore.
Authorities stopped Ansari's vehicle in Byculla, central Mumbai, after he aroused suspicion during routine patrol checks. His inability to provide a satisfactory explanation for his nighttime travel raised further alarms.
Upon a thorough search of his car at the Byculla police station, officers discovered 1,710 grams of MD, valued around Rs 3.42 crore, and 17 grams of charas worth Rs 4.50 lakh. Ansari now faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, as investigations continue to trace the source and intended delivery of these narcotics.
