Dramatic Police Encounter in Meerut: Two Notorious Criminals Arrested

Two notorious criminals have been apprehended following a tense police encounter in the Nauchandi police station area of Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh. This, according to a senior police officer who reported on Tuesday. The confrontation led to one of the suspects sustaining a bullet injury.

Abhishek Tiwari, the Circle Officer of Civil Lines, detailed the incident occurring on Monday night when officers were conducting checks on suspicious vehicles near Nauchandi Ground. During this operation, police spotted two youths on a motorcycle lacking a number plate. Despite attempts by the police to halt them, the suspects allegedly opened fire with an attempt to kill. In self-defense, police fired back, injuring one of the criminals, Wasim, a resident of Lakkhipura under the Lisari Gate police station, while his accomplice, Sartaj, from Pudine Wala Khet, was promptly taken into custody.

Both Wasim and Sartaj are linked to various serious criminal cases, including theft, burglary, and illegal possession of weapons. Authorities have filed a case against them under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Recovered from the scene were a looted mobile phone, an illegal homemade pistol, cartridges, and the motorcycle. Official investigations are progressing.
