In a poignant homecoming, Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit returned to Pune to a hero's welcome after his acquittal in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case. The former military officer faced a grueling 17-year battle before a special Mumbai court cleared him, along with six others, of involvement in the deadly attack.
Upon his arrival, Purohit was met with an enthusiastic celebration outside his residence, marked by traditional drumming, slogans, and the waving of saffron flags. As he rode triumphantly in an open jeep with his wife, Aparna, he described his emotions as overwhelming, emphasizing the unwavering love and support he received from family and friends.
Purohit spoke candidly about the personal toll of enduring false charges and incarceration. He highlighted how the ordeal affected his health and the emotional strain on his family, who remained steadfast by his side. He also urged the rejection of terms like 'saffron terror', as fellow BJP members called his acquittal a significant vindication.
