The Allahabad High Court has deferred the hearing of a writ petition challenging the legality of an ordinance impacting the renowned Bankey Bihari temple in Mathura. Scheduled for August 20, the case was brought before Justices Arindam Sinha and Manjiv Shukla.
The legal proceedings are complicated by parallel challenges in India's Supreme Court. R N Pandey, Additional Chief Standing Counsel, informed the court that the ordinance is already the subject of litigation at the Supreme Court level. However, no orders have been issued to halt ongoing cases in other courts.
Adding another layer to the legal tussle, another plea against the same ordinance was recently heard by a single bench, which has set August 26 for further proceedings. The intricate legal landscape continues to unfold across multiple judicial levels.
