UK Gurdwara Cleared by Charity Commission: Khalistan Boards Pose No Breach

The Charity Commission for England and Wales has determined that the display of 'Khalistan boards' at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Slough does not breach official political guidelines for charities. The decision followed a detailed investigation into governance concerns, including consultation with various stakeholders.

The regulatory body clarified that the Khalistan boards, which have both religious and political meanings, did not contain separatist messages advocating for a political state. Therefore, they were deemed consistent with the gurdwara's religious objectives.

While the investigation remains open, a Regulatory Action Plan has been issued to the charity to enhance administration and governance. The commission has already noted progress with the removal of several actions from the plan due to improvements made by the trustees.
