Mumbai Man Arrested for Assault and Pregnancy of Teen from Odisha

Mumbai police arrested a 23-year-old man accused of raping and impregnating a 15-year-old girl from Odisha's Ganjam district. The Parksite police station arrested him based on a zero FIR filed at Berhampur's Baidyanathpur police station, according to an official.

Superintendent of Police Saravana Vivek M in Berhampur reported that police responded on July 28 to MKCG Medical College and Hospital following a medico-legal complaint. The minor, found to be 19 weeks pregnant, wished to abort. She disclosed she lived in Mumbai with her parents and was sexually assaulted in March by the accused.

The victim informed her mother of the incident and pregnancy. Following threats by the accused's family, her mother took her to Berhampur for abortion. Berhampur Police registered a zero FIR, forwarding it to Parksite police for formal registration, leading to the accused's arrest.
