Tensions have escalated around a disputed mausoleum in Fatehpur as a Hindu organization, the Math Mandir Sanrakshan Sangharsh Samiti, announced plans for a kirtan at the site. This follows a recent incident where a mob vandalized the structure, claiming it to be a Hindu temple.
Security has been heightened, with more than 300 police personnel, Provincial Armed Constabulary platoons, and Special Task Force teams deployed in a one-kilometer radius. The area remains under constant drone surveillance. Prohibitory orders have been enacted, restricting residents from leaving without a valid reason.
The situation began escalating when the Hindu group sought to 'beautify' the mausoleum, alleging it was a temple. Despite denied permission, a mob breached barriers, hoisted flags, and vandalized the site. Officials have identified 140 suspects, though no arrests have been made yet.
