A devastating blaze at a plastic manufacturing unit near KR Market resulted in the tragic loss of five lives, including a family of four. On Sunday, police confirmed the arrest of building owner Balakrishnayya Shetty and his son Sandeep Shetty on charges related to unauthorized construction and inadequate fire safety measures.
The fire ignited at approximately 2.30 am on Saturday, originating in a warehouse on the ground floor and swiftly spreading to upper levels. Though many occupants narrowly escaped, one family found themselves trapped inside, unable to evade the inferno.
The victims included Madan Singh, 38, his wife Sangeetha, 33, their children Mithesh, 7, and Vihaan, 5, along with a neighbor, Suresh Kumar, 26. Singh, a Rajasthan native, had rented the building for a decade, operating a unit producing plastic and steel kitchenware.
